BJP defends Sania's attire

Nagpur, Sept 13 The BJP minority cell today defended the sporting attire of tennis sensation Sania Mirza and ridiculed the 'fatwa' given by some Muslim religious leaders.

"Should a burkha clad Sania play tennis in international competitions," posed general secretary of BJP all-India Minority Cell, Nahid Zafar Sheikh, at a press conference, here.

She said Sania should wear any sporting attire in which she is comfortable.

Sheikh said an All India Convention of BJP Muslim women is being organised at Pune on September 23 and 24 which will be attended by over 500 women delegates, including from Jammu and Kashmir.

It will take up problems of Muslim women including education, dress code and atrocities against them.
